Samoa – a paradise on earth (EN)

Funny arrival in Samoa

When I arrived in Samoa I was asked at the airport in which hotel I would stay. I had not reserved an overnight stay, I told the immigration office that I would look for something in the city. Then I was asked what I wanted to do here and I said that I’m on a music tour „Dream Awake“ and also planned the island of Samoa to play here. The border authority told me that this was not possible because I needed a hotel reservation in order to enter. They asked me again where I will stay tonight. I replied that maybe I did not need any sleep because I might just make music in the city or in a club. They looked at me a bit surprised and asked again, but I said: „Do you want to send me home?“ They laughed, wished me a lot of fun and then pressed the stamp in my passport.

The island of Samoa was in the past a German colony, so there are still some inhabitants with German names, there is also a separate cemetery for Germans, as well is still paid today with thalers and on top of that is on Sunday in the churches the melody of the German Sung national anthem. People are really welcoming and I was very impressed with their warmth and friendliness. It is always very nice to experience when you meet such natural and still simple people who live in harmony with nature.

Earthquake magnitude 3

The tourist numbers are also very limited here. You sometimes see people outside of Samoa when a cruise ship arrives and suddenly all the taxis drive around wildly to drive the thousands of comers to the hotspots. These hotspots, however, can be seen. There is a beautiful nature in Samoa and it is a true South Seas paradise. There is an active volcano on the island of Savai’i called Matavanu and every night I felt the light earthquakes (earthquake magnitude around 3). The beaches, the crystal clear waters and the beautiful waterfalls are unique. Internet and WIFI hardly exist on Samoa and therefore you can not see any people constantly looking into their mobile phones. Samoa would be an ideal dropout paradise if you are looking for peace and distance from today’s western world.

Beautiful and peaceful beaches

Messiah of Rock’n’Roll on air

Also, I got in touch with radio station Radio Polynesia LTD and asked if I could present the song „Messiah of Rock’n’Roll“ from my new album „Dream Awake“. With great joy, I immediately went on air and immediately thereafter gave a second interview, including song presentation on Radio Magik. The moderator said he would play my songs every day in the future. Furthermore, they invited me for a TV interview, but I had no time for that anymore. Broadcasting Manager Mr. Corey S.Keil has promised me that my Vlog about Samoa will be broadcast on state television of Samoa. He was very pleased that Linz Land TV would show a report about Samoa in Austria.

On Palm Sunday I visited a church to join the special singing ceremony live (see VLog No. 9). I received a warm welcome from Pastor Referent Commisi and his wife Mercy and also got invited of them to have dinner together. Christianity is kept very high here because the missionaries brought them culture and morality. Considering that hundreds of years ago, the native people were still cannibals, so I could understand that better. The conversation with the pastor was very interesting because he told me much about the history and the culture of Samoa. He has described the irony of the time with a little humor. The first missionaries were apparently consumed, later the missionaries were sanctified for bringing the message of Jesus, and therefore the missionaries were more worshiped than their king. In another story, I was told that the missionaries were very shocked when they arrived in Samoa, as they approached the almost nude aborigines. Then the natives began to dress properly. Now it is the other way around. Today, the inhabitants of Samoa are shocked by the whites when the western tourists are lying on the beach with bikinis or „topless“. After the Palm Sunday ceremony I was invited to the stage to tell about my person and the „Dream Awake Tour“. So the people asked me a lot of questions. Finally, I was able to present some of my songs from my new album in the church and got a shell necklace hung around my neck. For this special gift I would like to thank Mercy again!

I had a wonderful and very special time in Samoa. When you’re in such a beautiful and unique place, with such wonderful people, in the middle of the Pacific, you can just say thank you that I’m allowed to live on this incredible planet right now.

Greetings from beautiful Samoa!

General Info

In my upcoming video blog # 9 you can listen to the song „Stay forever“. This song will not be released as a single but will be available in summer when my full album will be released. In VLog No. 8 (New Zealand) the song „Far away“ can be heard which will be released on the album too.
