On Sunday I played two gigs together with Cycle Chain band. It was a very hot day again, but we had a lot of fun and I was impressed by the routine the young band performed the songs on stage.

Before the first gig started, Vamsi (lead guitarist) told me an extraordinary story. He told me that he was bitten by a poisonous snake some weeks ago and luckily survived. It happened at his home in the garden. After the bite his whole body turned blue. In the hospital he was injected with a serum. Only later did he regain consciousness. The doctor said that he was very lucky because the serpent’s teeth had not fully penetrated his lower leg. The doctor said that it is a miracle that he survived this snakebite of a krait. I listened intently to Vamsi and was glad for him that the story went well for him. Otherwise our two concerts would not have taken place on this day. Manasa, the snake goddess, may protect Vamsi from further attacks in the future.

Info: How many people per year in India die of snakes in unclear. Most statistics in India assume less than 5,000 deaths a year. International studies, from the WHO, tell numbers like 50,000 victims a year. (Source: http://www.tier-arten.de/Schlangen_Indien.php)
